Blighty One – Unexpected Places
Creating theatre from, in and leading to unexpected places

Blighty One

“Blighty One! Blighty One! You’re lucky, Johnny; they’re sending you home, son.”

An injured young soldier returns from the Front Line of the First World War to Netley Military Hospital, where, as an eight-year-old boy, he delivered newspapers to patients on the very same ward.

This FREE bank holiday puppetry performance, specially commissioned as part of our Heritage Lottery funded project to bring to life Netley’s Royal Victoria Military Hospital, links one of Hampshire’s most recognisable landmarks – the Chapel that remains in the country park – to the history behind this inspiring true story.
